Monday Madness -- March 13, 2023

Get some popcorn and pull up a purple chair. It's time for another action-packed AND fun-filled episode of Monday Madness. Tim and Scott are back with a look ahead to the next round in Lent Madness which begins ON THURSDAY.

In case you were planning on voting 800 times, Tim and Scott also provide a warning about what happens to cheaters. They also wax poetic about a controversial episode from the past, when the Department of Labor and Lent Madness were ensnarled in a media circus.

Stay tuned for next week's episode. It will appear in ::checks notes:: exactly seven days.

  1. I have really enjoyed Lentmadness! A friend told me about your site. I informed my cousin who is the Rector at St Luke’s Episcopal in Blue Ridge, Ga about the game of Saints! I encouraged him to encourage his congregation to join the fun too!

  2. I have really enjoyed reading about and voting for the contestants. Fun and educational!

  3. I wonder how many votes from Department of Labor employees helped former Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins win the MMXIII Golden Halo?

Also her Wikipedia article says she was recognized as a Saint by The Episcopal Church in 2022. Either that is a typo intended to be 2012 or the SEC has some explaining to do.

  4. In today's write-up about John donne, you omit the msot important reason for his name recognition today: the fact that he is regarded by many literary critics and reaers of poetry as the most outstanding, best known of the Metaphysical Poets in the English language. In Anglican theological circles, he is equally revered for his sermons at St. Paul's. He coined the phrase "No man is an island."

    1. My high school English teacher was a big fan of John Donne and instilled in me an appreciation for the metaphysical poets!

  6. So someone in the department of Labor in 2013 sent out a memo to vote in Lent Madness? That is pretty wild and certainly speaks to the popularity of this very enjoyable Lenten "discipline". Love it and love Monday Madness. You always make me laugh!
