Scott Gunn

The arrival of the pre-Lent high season brings back weekly episodes of Monday Madness, starting today! In this week's episode, Tim and Scott discuss how every lover of Lent Madness will be enjoying this "gesima" season, and not just on Sundays. Even more important, they highlight the newly published Saintly Scorecard: The Definitive Guide to Lent Madness 2014.

Saintly ScorecardYes, you know you want it: 96 pages of pure gold, including the official biographies of each of the 32 saints in this year's bracket. 1. Well, heavens to Murgatroyd you're back...or rather, y'all are back...all y'all and am I glad seeing as how I thought I'd been purged and banished to bad commentator purgatory. I'm gearing up for the 2014 saintly doings and will be ordering stuff ASAP so as to be ready!!!!! I'm also awaiting a formal SEC visitation to Christ Church Cathedral where everyone knows about LentMadness courtesy of moi. Y'all come (and bring the Saintly Jane Papa....etc......! along as SEC chaperone.)

  2. WOW!!! Must have this! And only $3 too! And to think I get paid this coming Friday, it is surely a sign from Heaven.
Warm regards, still think that Fred Rogers should be eligible for the Golden Halo and no I won't shut up about it,
    Madeleine Baier

  3. I am totally with you in the Fred Rogers thing Madeleine Baier. I have campaigned to have him put on the ballot and even the archbishops via clairvoyatron said NO because he is not on our calendar. I say pencil him in on an Ember day.

    1. Thanks for the idea, I'm embarrassed I didn't think of it! I will use my boldest, blackest pencil. Who said the bishop is always right?!?!

      1. this applies, um, to the archbishops as well. clairvoyatron or not. Thanks again Linda, will keep a sharp eye out for ember days!!

      2. Hi Sheldon,
In response to your question (b), it's been my experience that, especially as I get older, time seems to pass more quickly, esp. the time between Christmas and Ash Wednesday. Seems that no sooner do the last of the pointsettias get swept up and the greenery put away, than we at the St. Andrew's choir are practicing for Tenebrae! Oh well. Tempus Fugit. It is what it is.

  4. So glad Forward Movement has continued to invite this infusion of Sacred Energy!! Remember when it was just a little book in the pew!! Not a gamer here, but enjoyed last year. Looking forward to a fabulous lent of learning!!

  5. Two questions:
    1) Can one Rent-a-Lent one?

    b) Didn’t we just do Lent? What happened to the time between then and now? (oops - one question too many.)

  6. Greetings, Supreme Earthlings!
'Looking forward to Lent (Madness), once again. You give life balance and I can't help remember the Gilbert & Sullivan Society meetings in NYC during my youth where nothing, absolutely nothing, was anything but tongue in cheek. You bring back the humor of my life as a PK in a church where the congregation contained so many educated folk that the priest (my father) would say, with a wink, "I would almost rather preach hierarchy than split an infinitive..."
    Thanks,

    1. how can it possibly be perfect when Fred Rogers is not on? AND-how would a dead saint receive a prize? I think the prize is their mug on a mug.

      1. Linda, Completely back you up on this one!!!!
There is no possible way that any Lent Madness bracket WILL EVER BE EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO BEING PERFECT WITHOUT FRED McFEELEY ROGERS'S NAME THEREON!
SEC, ARE YOU LISTENING?!?!?! I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
        whew that felt good.
Also I don't think it likely that a dead saint can receive a prize. I doubt that any of them would be interested(just one crazy lady's opinion).

        1. madeleine- that's 2 of us against the 2 SEC members. maybe if we bug them enough we will be successful ...one day! warren buffet is a zillionaire who owns Berkshire Hathaway and I don't know what else. he is a financial wizard. a share of Berkshire Hathaway was at one time thousands of dollars. I would have to look it up so see what it's worth now-probably a lot more.

    2. Hi Steve,
maybe my Fred-Rogers-obsessed mind missed out on this, but who exactly IS Warren Buffet? plz advise. Thanks!
